Baggy Fits and Bold Patterns Pave Paris Fashion Week
As the European Fashion Week events continue, Milan Fashion Week upholds the high street style standards set by attendees at previous events. The prevailing mood was one of slouchy silhouettes, billowing coats and unmissable patterns, informed by plenty of luxury logos and utilitarian accents.
Menswear’s predilection for casual tailoring inspired a variety of the outfits, with sharp overcoats, relaxed blazers and refined trench coats all making appearances, often in slouchy, oversized cuts to complement the immense trousers. Muted checks, bold leopard print and Marine Serre‘s half-moon pattern lent snappy visual interest to the diverse styling, furthered by omnipresent striped mohair cardigans, classic camouflage and textural dyes.
An array of weighty shoes anchored the heavyweight layers, ranging from retro favorites like the Nike Air Force 1 and New Balance 991 to new-school comfort courtesy of Kiko Kostadinov’s collaborative ASICS and sacai’s Nike Blazers. Leather shoes offered a touch of sophistication; laceless variations in particular made quite a splash, exemplified by tassels and/or metallic loafers and delicate embroidered slippers.
